Wise or Otherwise

Eve saw the fruit looking luscious and ripe

Satan in the serpent (then handsome and upright)

Presented her with a lot of deceptive hype

Closed her mind to God's clear voice

Ate of the forbidden fruit

Gave Adam the same choice

Adam reluctantly heard his wife's plea

Looked into her seemingly innocent eyes

"Delicious and it will make us wise", said she

As they ate with satisfied sighs

Wise or otherwise soon they discovered

They were naked, looking for something to clothe themselves

Something from the eyes of God they could be covered

Nothing from fancy retail or vaunted storage shelves

Large fig leaves they sowed covering for their shame

Attempting to hide from an omniscient God

Whom they no  longer knew by an innocent name

They were no longer wise but otherwise of the sod
