Veterans Day

Echoing through the canyons of time

Reverberating from cliffs of yesteryear

The marching of a thousand, ten thousand feet

To the call of country's protective need

The shouts of glory and agony in battles in farflung fields

Too many in death, too many with severe wounds

Too many with spirits broken by the wild savagery of war

Their voices drowned in the tumult of ordinary life

Some stand tall through it all as though with special grace

Their echoes muted too in life's ceaseless pace

Veterans Day we honor them all who have given their

Time in duty and devotion

To protect our nation's freedom, whether at home or afar.

To be called to devote their time in maintaining

Those freedoms so dearly purchased

So dearly purchased
