Not Held by Nails

                 Not Held By Nails

The nails pinned firmly down His hands and feet
Upon the timber where He hung 'til dead,
And with His suffering and death complete,
Unto a newer life I have been led.

My pride was slain by His humility,
Indulgence smothered by His sacrifice,
My greed killed by His generosity,
To free me of my death, He paid the price.

The iron nails can pin the flesh to wood
And stop the senses in a final breath,
Yet still there lives a Love that always could
Live on and on not held by nails of death.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
