Running With the Big Cats Now

Running With the Big Cats Now

I'm running with the big cats now,
No more a soft and pampered pet,
I'm wired and ready for a row
To earn whatever goods I get.

My treasure lies where pranksters prowl
At night when daytime creatures sleep,
I raise a ghostly hoodlum's howl
To wake the dead up from the deep.

I shall be home, though, now and then,
Returning to that gentler spot
With strong and seasoned paws just when
Whatever fighting has been fought.

For now, for now, though, this must be,
It can't be stopped, no way, no how,
An inner nature calls to me,
I'm running with the big cats now.

Rich Tassinari 2/3/17

I had a cat many years ago that did not come in every day. The cat I have now was feral and won't leave the house even when I leave the door open.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
