If What Mattered More
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

If What Mattered More

If what mattered more was His time,
The wandering sheep would be lost,
The shepherd would not spend time's cost
To retrieve one and leave ninety-nine.

If what mattered more was relief,
The stone would have turned into bread,
His thirst and His hunger, watered and fed,
The victor, a demon's belief.

If what mattered more was the poor,
The gift of a sinner would have been sold,
The warmth in a heart turned quickly to cold,
The prince of shared wealth we'd adore.

If what mattered more was the pain,
The Accused would have let evil be,
Spared His own life and walked away free,
There would not be His loss for our gain.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
