And So I Taste
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

     And So I Taste

When hunger strikes
So deep within my soul
And nothing fills
The pain and empty hole,

I think of Him
Who gave that I may eat,
And then I know
His food’s redeeming meat.

And so I taste
Of Him who died for me,
The Bread of Life,
All hope eternally.

When life is hard
And heartless as a stone-
A heavy weight
Seems driven to the bone,

I think of Him
Who bore weight to the end
And thank Him for
The love He did defend.

And so I taste
Of Him who died for me,
The Bread of Life,
All hope eternally.

Then I am full
And nourished deep within
My heart and soul
With hope and love through Him.

My weight is light,
My heart and soul take wing
To fly to Him
Of Whom I praise and sing.

And so I taste
Of Him who died for me,
The Bread of Life,
All hope eternally.

Rich Tassinari 3/24/16

Witten in the plain style of hymn poetry.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
