I Turn To You, My Lord
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

I Turn To You, My Lord

Back when the hourglass was full on top
And slowly sands were slipping down away,
I didn’t think someday the sand will stop
Atop its final mound without delay.
And so, I sculpted castles in my mind
With sand that seemed as endless as the shore
Where waves washed up attractions I could find
To gather in my castle and adore.
The waves have ridden tides moved by the moon
Both in and out collapsing castle walls
Which, standing firm at day, wear down too soon
When time to gather ends and nighttime calls.
Then, when I mourn the waste of time and cost,
I turn to You, my Lord, and all’s not lost.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
