The Cat Goes Out
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

The Cat Goes Out

Out I must, some ancient lust
For ventures in the wild,
Akin to me, as tars to sea
From domiciles exiled.

I'll chase the leaf, or shed a sheaf
Of villainous tabloid
That struck the door and hit the floor,
Intruders I've destroyed.

Pay no mind, stay in, be kind,
I'll lurk for all that moves
About the shire, adopted sire,
Give way, our peace behooves.

You'll hear no boast, congenial host,
Of bloody battles won,
With fur alert and face of dirt,
I shall return when done.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
