Onesimus

Onesimus

Onesimus? Who was he?
A spirit son from Philemon
Who left and then returned?
A youth with love from God above
Who gave for what Paul yearned?

May we have a Onesimus
For all ordeals without appeals
When only love can soothe
The worldly pains and hurtful lanes,
And make a rough path smooth.

Onesimus, an angel here on earth?
He comes and goes, the Spirit knows
Where next he will be sent,
His usefulness and love will bless
To spark a heart’s ascent.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
