September Once Again Is Born
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

September Once Again Is Born

Arriving on this change of morn,
September once again is born,
Upon dewed grass, cool air’s afloat,
I shall this morning wear a coat.

I shall select a shirt with sleeves
Of plaid, perhaps, with woolen weaves,
And pants to run a full length long
To help me greet this chilly dawn.

The sunrise leaps and takes its wing,
The dampness of night’s visiting
Now flies in water vapor up
To give the clouds and sun a cup.

The sun and sky then take the drink,
September changes in a blink,
The summer sun still governs day,
The cool night air has gone away.

Just like last year, the story goes,
My closet keeps a change of clothes
Together crammed, two seasons claim
My closet and September’s fame.

The going out and coming in
Of what’s to end and what begin,
'Though briefly hung upon one pole,
Is needed for the changing soul.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
