The Little House Wren

         The Little House Wren

The little house wren doesn’t know
That happiness can come and go,
Its sings its music by decree,
A light and lively melody
In rising notes of tremolo
Throughout the wood from tree to tree.

Its music rises through the air,
In rising, lifts a heart up there
Above the walk of joyless ways
Where shadows sadden sunny days
On paths not better for the wear
Of plans a songless creature lays.

A messenger on heaven’s wings
With sounds of primal echoings
Proclaimed at first in Eden’s wood
Where all was authored as it should,
“Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice,” it sings
In praise of joy, in praise of good.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
