A Blessing

A Blessing

She came to us twelve years ago,
A blessing from above,
Where on our final day we’ll go
And see our God of Love.

For now, we’re here upon the earth
And yearn for heaven’s light,
The candle lit at second birth
Puts heaven in our sight.

On Sunday, when she comes to pray,
We glorify our God,
The Bible says it is His day,
Our weekday hearts are thawed.

We learn and live His Kingdom come
And wonder when ‘twill be
The final day, the total sum
Of days that set us free.

God’s answer comes to all who pray
And to His Way adhere,
She says His Kingdom is today
Within our hearts, it’s here.

Luke 17:20-21

When we were talking about the Kingdom of Heaven this last Sunday, my granddaughter Yessenia said that we don't have to wait to go to Heaven, Heaven comes to us now in our hearts. Our message for the day was the Kingdom Within. Children can be a great blessing.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
