               Take…Eat…Drink

My soul is like a cup that He has filled
With spirit pressed from grapes grown on His vine
Who bore the fruit He offered us as wine,
The same He poured out as His Father willed.

My soul is like a plate that He has filled
With bread formed from the crushing of His seed
Who bore my sins upon the cross to bleed,
The same He poured out as His Father willed.

My soul comes to His table where I’m filled,
My heart and mind with nourishment divine
Invited to His Holy Meal, I dine,
I drink and eat just as my Father willed.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
