At Wine Tasting

           At Wine Tasting

She said that one can still dry farm
Since grape vines sink deep roots,
When nature carries out its charm,
The rain and sun bring fruits.

Our nature has a helping hand,
The artful hand composed
Warm sun, rain clouds, the fertile land,
And fruits with plans enclosed.

A person, then, will reap the yield,
Will gather, taste, and sow
Beginnings back upon the field
Where first fruit's gifts regrow.

And so, to grow my soul's estate,
I'll practice what she said,
And trust the Heavens irrigate
More sure than I instead.

I'll pull my weeds and prune my vine,
Select the ripest fruit
To drink the choicest God-sent wine
Inherited to suit.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
