Life Renews

                Life Renews

A soft and tender stem of nascent green
Sprouts out and up from winter-weathered wood
Among the blossoming of spring's pristine
Young buds and leaves and all created good.

Perhaps, the first of days was made in spring,
And still renews a worn and weathered heart
To lift the weight of winter's reckoning
And plant again a lighter, hopeful start.

When passion fell like autumn leaves from trees
And thoughts were chilled to think what would survive
Throughout dead season's cold calamities,
The vision of first spring was still alive.

And when the Spirit nurtured what remained,
The first of days returned with life regained.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
