After the Storm
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

                         After the Storm

Some mighty limbs of trees lay ripped from trunks,
And branches plucked from limbs are tossed about,
Alone or gathered up in piles of chunks,
Bedeviled and thrown here and thereabout.

The pasture grass is flattened to the ground,
Knocked down by pelts of rain and windy blows,
And all that had its place is scattered ‘round,
All understanding strewn where no one knows.

As quick as clouds broke in, the clouds depart,
Uncovering the light which always shined
Above and in a weather beaten heart,
It is the way a heart has been designed.

A promise made and written in the sky
With light that prints its color in a bow,
To hearts in storms a covenant held high-
That light forever shines, storms come and go.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
