Blessed Are the Merciful

Blessed Are the Merciful

The merciful are two times blest,
While giving mercy they receive,
Obtaining back what they've expressed.

Of self-sown hearts, they're unpossessed,
And reap the fruits of His reprieve,
The merciful are two times blest.

Their pardoned heart is holy pressed,
Releasing that which they achieve,
Obaining back what they've expressed.

Their heart is peaceful and at rest,
No loss of honor to retrieve,
The merciful are two times blest.

Their enemy is their heart's guest,
They share the Good News they believe,
Obtaining back what they've expressed.

By mercy, they are pruned and dressed
Around the Holy Vine they weave,
The merciful are two times blest,
Obtaining back what they've expressed.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
