Moses on His Mission

          Moses On His Mission

Beyond each new horizon lies our home
Outside the wilderness in which we roam,
Our fertile future and our barren day
Are hope and hopelessness along the way.

We hear the hopeless echoes of the wild
Inside our spirits like a homeless child,
We follow pillars from Your guiding sky
Where hope is mirrored in each child's true eye.

When thin with desperation, we are fed
With sprinkled spirit dew- Your holy bread,
When hope runs dry in us, You split the rock
And pour fresh water for Your thirsty flock.

I hear Your voice and see Your fire and light,
I reach through darkness in the black of night,
I come to You as servant and a son
To be at home and yet still on the run.

When praises to a golden calf are heard,
Your stones that keep the heaven's holy word,
Our covenant lies shattered on the ground,
On earth, man's broken promises abound.

Yet still, beyond the next horizon's morn,
And closer to the land where man's reborn,
We offer thanks and pitch a tent for You,
In giving, love and thankfulness renew.

Beyond the mountain lies our promised land,
I'm nearly home and holding firm Your hand,
My eyes are blessed to see, my heart to know,
I'll soon be home with You when earth let's go.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
