A Hunger Satisfied
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

          A Hunger Fulfilled

Upon a diet rich in pride I’ve dined
And stuffed my self into a soul unfit
From feasts the rich in spirit didn’t mind
Where poverty in spirit wouldn’t sit.
I’ve sought to quench my thirst as if to drink
Of me, my self, just for the love of it,
As if before love rises, one must sink
Into one’s self the thirst and never quit.
I’ve taken portions with a hungry greed
That found some satisfaction for a bit,
Then felt more hunger and increased the need
To take, but couldn’t fill my empty pit.
My thirst was quenched, my hunger satisfied
By Christ’s eternal food for which He died.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
