A Gift from God

        The Gift from God

In Bethlehem, there shone a light,
A special babe was born,
A blessed birth one holy night,
A gift from God one morn.

For He is here, for He has come,
The Son of God, the Holy One,
Rise up! Rise up! Ye people sing!
Oh hear! Oh hear! The church bells ring!

The angels sang,”Rejoice, fear not,”
As shepherds found their way
To see the babe God’s Spirit brought
To all on earth that day.

For He is here, for He has come,
The Son of God, the Holy One,
Rise up! Rise up! Ye people sing!
Oh hear! Oh hear! The church bells ring!

Three Kings of royalty on earth
Who journeyed from afar,
Brought gifts to praise the Savior’s birth
Beneath God’s shining star.

For He is here, for He has come,
The Son of God, the Holy One,
Rise up! Rise Up! Ye people sing!
Oh hear! Oh hear! The church bells ring.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
