The Unclean Woman

The Unclean Woman

A jolt, a snap, and down she fell
Among the crowd that still pressed on
To follow Him who soon could tell
Some power, by her touch, was gone.

She hid, was not supposed to touch,
Afraid, unlcean, with bleeding cursed,
Though He, she knew, must love all much,
She was not worthy to be nursed.

But, touch she did, her reaching hand
Stretched through the crowd that pressed on Him
And power passed along faith's strand
To heal her spirit once grown dim.

He knew not whom, abruptly turned,
What punishment might she endure
Whose faithful heart for healing burned?
From Him, a miracle, a cure.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
