Chasing Herself
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

Other Poems by Rich Tassinari

             Chasing Herself

She ran as fast as she could run,
Became a circle, then she spun
With snapping jaws to no avail
To catch her fast revolving tail.

And then, she rolled both left and right,
Employing wit instead of might
To catch the tail now chasing her,
Away or toward, she wasn’t sure.

She somersaulted over head,
Then lunged with paws to claw it dead,
Then leaped straight out and took to flight,
But found it was nowhere in sight.

She growled, and huffed, and puffed, and stared,
Assured not one knew how she fared,
Then stretched out down to do what’s best-
Ignore her loss and get some rest.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
