A Changed Heart

                 A Changed Heart

The gate into my heart had been closed tight,
So when You came and sought to enter in,
I faintly heard Your knock, but dark delight
In pleasures kept me where You couldn’t win.
I opened up my gate to show my might,
To show I have no fear from deep within
My heart where I repel all those who fight
To take my liberty, although I sin.
You entered, though, in peace, to reunite
Your heart with something I still had within,
Unknown to me the depth, the breath, the height
Of love my heart and You were made akin.
Once heavy burdened, now my heart is light,
You entered with love’s meek and humble might!

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
