Temptation in the Desert
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

    Temptation in the Desert

The desert burns each tired limb,
And starves inside with hunger pain,
But when the devil offers grain,
Denied, rejected all by Him.

Temptation at the temple rim,
The devil infiltrates inside
The spirit of man's will and pride,
Rejected once again by Him.

A kingdom offered on a whim,
But, first the supplicant must bow,
And then, the wealth of here and now,
Denied a final time by Him.

The devil plays the desert test
Day after day with those who take,
But those whose spirits will not break
Shall find angelic peace and rest.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
