       Prayer

for Peter

A word not always spoken,
Creation's sixth-day force,
A yearning from the human heart
Returning to its source,
A coming home of someone
Who had been far and lost,
A gentle rocking on the waves
Soon after being tossed,
A glowing light in darkness
Growing big and bright,
With every step that's taken
Closer in His sight,
An invitation given
To quickly come as is,
And answered as it's spoken
The way that's only His,
An ink well that is pouring
Until the well is dry,
Unedited the paragraph
He reads, He's here, close by.

Rich Tassinari 8/29/13
Inspired by Peter's poem and George Herbert's poem about prayer.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
