Changing of the Leaves

      Changing of the Leaves

Where green had dominated all the leaves,
A mixture now of yellow, orange, red,
The daily change of color in the trees
Debuts each day a new display instead.

The season is a spray of cheerful color
Layered for the eye to draw within
The autumn stage where nature is the actor,
The audience at heart a native kin.

As if two long lost friends had found each other
'Though being close together day by day
Until one's inclination found another
Means to find their most familiar way.

Miraculous the cycle of each season
Coming in and going out on earth,
The changing leaves suggest a common reason-
One ending leads into another birth.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
