Blessed Are They Who Hunger and Thrist

The hungry and thirsty shall dine
At the table they hunger and thirst
Of the earth or His bread and His wine.

Each table is made by design,
No patron's obliged or coerced,
The hungry and thirsty shall dine.

The food by a standard is fine,
And portions by server disbursed
Of the earth or His bread and His wine.

The hunger of earth has a sign,
It returns to the patron immersed,
The hungry and thirsty shall dine.

Some food is of earth, some divine,
Of one is the other reversed
Of the earth or His bread and His wine.

Fulfilling! The banquet of Thine,
The last at earth's table are first,
The hungry and thirsty shall dine
Of the earth or His bread and His wine.

About the Poet
Husband, father, grandfather, and each title is my joy. As a youth, poetry was a means to express the inexpressable. I was attracted to (and still am) the beauty and brevity of verse. All flows out from God, and like a proper prayer, can flow back.
