Wisdom's Pilgrim

Wisdom'd Pilgrim

"Behold, Wise Men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying:
'Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? We have
seen His Star in the East, and have come to worship Him.'" Matt 2:1,2

Father,

Wealth I seek,
Not the World's wealth, but
Wisdom's Wealth,
Wisdom's Splendor,
Wisdom's Treasure -- Jesus.

The Star of faith,
Set in humility's rich sky,
Clear, not faint,
I chase with a hungry heart.

In prayer the Star rays through,
The fences swing open in my soul,
The Light-Winged Spirit Dove enters, and
Wisdom takes wing.

In love the Star pierces through,
I climb out of the trench of "I,"
Light is thrown on life, and
Wisdom is the heir.

In awe the Star blazes through,
The swell of "I" deflates,
No longer a slave to the powerless,
Nor see with lead-eyes, and
Wisdom opens up bloom-bright.

Father,

This is Wisdom, this I seek:

Jesus-
Truth's Summit.
Truth's Way;

Jesus -
Wisdom's Free Flame
Who lifts our spirit to the sky
For all Wisdom-Hungry crossing the desert.

Jesus -
Wisdom's Shepherd
Who leads us to the fold of truth
For all Wisdom-hungry crossing the desefrt.

"O the depth of wealth and wisdom and knowledge of God;
Unsearchable His judgements, untraceable His ways.
For who knows the mind of the Lord, or became His counselor?
Or who first gave to Him and He shall recompense to him?
For from out of Him and through Him and unto Him are all things.
To Him be glory for ever and ever." Romans 11:33-36

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
