The Blessed's Joy
Viewed Last 24 Hours: 1 time

Other Poems by Peter O

The Blessed's Joy,

"Blessed are the ones searching out His will with the entire heart...."
Psalm 119:2

Joy
Roots in God-seeking,
God ambitious --
A God- chaser,
A God-pursuer,
A God-searcher.

From this,
My soull wil swell and stretch
And with an embrace wide
Welcome God into my soul
With a warm joy.

And,
Stripped bare of doubt and
With pride naked
Od it's mantle and mask,
Fix on the wonders of God
With a free joy.

Yes,
The Spirit will Breathe into my soul
And my soul will then breathe
Alive with the Word, walking the Word --
The vocation of wax-less love
Of God,
Of neighbor,
Of enemy, and
Of self (God's image).

Then,
My soul,
And all within,
Will be blest with joy.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
