Scaffold

"...and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live
by faith in the Son of God ...." Galatains 2:20
Father,
Faith? A scaffold!
Yes, faith is prayer's scaffold --
It supports and sustains
The lifting and rising
Of our souls to You.
Faith lifts my eyes to You,
To gaze on You, Your Love, and
Opens to Your Gaze on me,
One never resting, gentle and kind.
Faith warm's the soul's frost
So the sap of prayer
Will rise and feed
The soul's winter-hungry branches.
Let me not squander faith's wealth,
Nor abuse Your largesse of Grace
But invest in the afluent flow of Your Saving Word.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
