Faith Heals

"Go! Your faith has healed you, and, immediately,
he gained sight and followed Jesus in the Way." Mark 10:52

Father,

Faith?

The confidence that the hoped for
Will actually happen, and
The conviction that the unseen
Actually exists. (Cf. Hebrew 11:1)

This faith heals
Those who live with
The void and blank within,
The dry and hollow within,
For faith fills the soul
With a mission and meaning --
To spread the Kingdom of Jesus.

This faith heals
Those without love or friend,
Those unpopular and estranged,
For faith assures us that You, Father,
You selected me to live; you know me,
Yes, me, my thoughts and dreams,
Yes, me, my name and place, AND
You love this me as Jesus does.

This faith heals
Those who live life
With dread and danger,
With scare and shiver,
For faith is the certainty
That You, Father, are by my side,
Thus, I need fear neither man nor devil.

This faith heals
Those sinners like me,
Who sin with lust and anger,
With doubt and cynicism,
For faith grounds in the Cross of Jesus,
The Grace-Wood, the Grace-Nails
That Bleeds forgiveness of my sins.

This faith heals
Those who seek to live a Jesus-Life,
Who struggle with flaws and habits,
Who combat with the Devil's jealousy,
For faith makes real Your Power, Father,
A Grace, both Wing and Limb,
That carries me free to be a Jesus-Disciple.

Father,

Faith is a sign of the Risen Life,
The gift of Your Son' Resurrection, thus,
Through grace I pray to grow in faith --
Faith in You, My Creator,
Not in man, Your creature.

Why?

Because
You can not deceive, nor be decedived,
"You are the God that does not lie." Titus 1:2

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
