Fullness

"From His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace." John 1:16

Father,

Jesus, Your Son.
Is the full Ship steaming through
The waters of believers,
Weighted with grace wealth.

Grace is a light, that
Glows away doubt's shadows,
Whitens away grey gloom.
Warms away mist's hide, all to
Steer the soul to it's true Shine,
Jesus, the Light of the world.

Grace is an egg, that
Breaks open
To a new birth, a new soul-scape --
To see You in a new way,
As Bread, not stone;
To know Your Way in a new way,
As a Tower, not a pit.

Grace is a sound, that
Speaks the Word,
Full of breath, not short;
Words, untied of tongue,
Beyond custom and culture,
Ringing of Rescue, of Redemption.

Father,

Fill me with grace, so
To unshackle my "ego's" leg irons, and
Heal the bruise, then
I will walk with Jesus, truly.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
