Holy Spirit
"Now we have received ... the Spirit which is from God."
1 Corinthians 2:12

The Holy Spirit?

The Unseen Breath,
The Divine Wind,
Bearing the wing'd seeds of grace
To the soul.

The Holy Spirit?

The Divine Wind
Shaking the decaying leaves
From the soul's bough --
The World and the Flesh and the Devil.

The Holy Spirit?

The Divine Wind
Waking me from my slumber,
The lull of self-will.

The Holy Spirit?

The Divine Wind
Lifting me from life's thorns,
Bringing me to a new life,
A new birth.

I pray:
May trhe Spirit
Fan dove-wings over my soul,
Giving me flight to You, Father.

May the Spirit
Flame the soul
With a tongue of zeal.

May the Spirit,
The Third Person of the Community of God,
The Harmony of Love
Between You, Father, and Your Son,
Fill my soul.

The Holy Spirit?

The Unseen Wind
Bringing spring
To the soul.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
