No, No, No

No, No, No,
"Joyful is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand on the way of sinners, nor sits with scoffers." Psalm 1

Father,

Save me from
A crust-life, thick and hard
With old doubts, around
The Bread of Life -- Jesus.
This I seek not: No, no, no.

Save me from
The flesh's hunt,
Waiting with war and whir
To hold my joy in hounds teeth.
This I seek not: no,no,no.

Save me from
My Adam-wired soul,
Electric with serpentine tongue,
Sparking venom,
Burning my heart's joy.
This I seek not: no, no,no.

Father,

This I seek:
The grace-gift of Wisdom.

Wisdom?
The Light to see the Temple of Your Will,
The Light to see the life YOU entrusted to me,

Yes Light!

Not to peep, but see; and
Wing warm under Your Son -- Jesus.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
