Silence before God

Silence before God

"Be still, and know I am God...." Psalm 46:10

Father,

Silence is the school of God,
Your school,
Yes, at rest and quiet of the day's labors,
Hush from the careworn world,
You will touch me, and
I, You.

When my soul is pond-still,
It mirrors You. For,
It is calm,
Windless of worries, and
The water lacks the salt of life's hurts.

Let Your Grace
Minister to my senses,
Free me from their prison,
Their haunting wall of noise.

Then, with my soul wide open,
Free from the tyranny of "ego,"
I will let You in, and
Know You

Father,

I will know You
Who gifts me with breath,
Sustains my heart-beat;
The Son
Whose Blood-Light
Casts away sin's shadows; and
The Spirit,
Whos Back carries me.

Yes,
"Be still, and know I am God...".
Psalm 46:10

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
