Soul Seasons

"With all prayer and supplication,
pray in all seasons in the spirit." Eph 6:18
Father,
As time, so prayer --
Both seasonal.
Spring's prayer unguards my soul
For the flow of grace,
The silent stream to the waiting seed.
I thank.
Summer's prayer unfurls my soul
To the charm of Your Majesty, now
Conquored by the adorned fields of raw beauty.
I  praise.
Fall's prayer unlocks my soul
Of the wind's moaning melodies, and
The lengthening of sorrows shadows.
I surrender.
Winter's prayer unseals my soul
Of the tomb's soul-seeds,
Silences the echoes of the leafless woods.
I beg.
Father,
As time is Your gift tome,
So prayer is my gift to You.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
