Faith-Path

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7

Father,

Christians walk
By means of
The sinewy lean legs of faith --

The daylight faith that
Frees us from sin's hermit caves;

The cut steal template faith that
Is not skewed by flesh's frame;

The bathing faith that
Washes off the war-paint
Of bitterness;

The Fathering faith that
Does not leave us orphans;

The thawing faith that
Melts our tongue in prayer;

The spanning faith that
Bridges our prayers to You;

The wide-eyed faith that
Opens our sleeping eyes.

Father,

I pray:

To journey on my path
With a faith that is:
Of fire,
Of soul, and
Of trust
For Your Revealed Word.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
