The Word

"The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw
His glory, glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace
and truth." John 1:14

Father,

Jesus
Is Your Living Voice,
You broke Your silence, and
Jesus, Your Tongue, spoke.

Yes,
Your Living Voice,
Born of a woman,
Bone of her bone,
Flesh of her flesh;

Came
Into our tent,
Into our story,
Into our Universe, and
Tanernacled with us.

And we looked up
Beholding His very soul --
It's Splendor.
It's Grandeur,
It's Brilliance.

All befitting Your Son,
The Son of God --

Rich, full and wide,
With joy, favor and affection;

Free, clear and clean
Of pretence, deceit and guise.

Father,
Thank You
For Jesus.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
