Worry

Worry

"But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness
and all these things will  be given to you." Matt 6:33

Father,

Worry?

Echoes! Doubt's echoes.
Mis-trust  bouncing off
My soul's cave walls --
Forgeries of truth,
Mimicings of truth.

What truth?
Your Plan for me --
Righteousness.

Still, worry bites away:
"They will not...."
"Can I ....?" "I can't ...."
"What if...."
These teeths eat away
Your Plan for me.

Father,
Jesus mutes worry
When He teaches:
"Seek first the Kingdom...."

Yes, worry quiets
If I desire You above all,
If I want You above all,
If I reach for You above all.

Yes, above ALL --
My "name,"
My "success,"
My "approval."

Then,
I will walk easy,
For I walk "right" with You.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
