Harbor and Port

Harbor and Port

Father,
This I seek, this I pray --
To harbor in Jesus, Your Son,
The Divine-Harbor, the Grace-Harbor,
And there, cast my  anchor in this Deep --
A Refuge beyond the pirate demon's reach,
A Shelter to moor my soul's vessel and be
Out of the world's creeping fog that crawls ghostlike.
This I seek, this I pray --
To port in Jesus, Your Son,
The Divine-Port, the Grace-Port,
And there, on this Sacred Dock,
Unload my cargo of sins
To load pardon,
Unload my questions
To load trust,
Unload my darknes
To load light,
Unload  my shut soul
To load an open soul.
Then, I am ready to leave this Grace-Haven
For the sea passage -- whether
On waters treacherous and terrible, or
On waters still and silent.
With a passage free and easy, for

I sail with Jesus in my soul's hold.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
