Prayer's High Knoll

Prayer's High Knoll

  •  Father,

  • Clear my soul's sky, then,
    From prayer's high  knoll,
I will gaze out to Your Son, Jesus.

  • There He is:

  • With Home-Holding Hands,
    He stretches to grasp
    The cold clinched hands
Of the exiled and waiting --
    Our Saving King.

  • There He is:

  • With a Love-Heated Heart,
He melts the soul's ice'd waterfalls, so,
Like these rushing waters, His grace
Flows through and gardens the soul. Yes,
The soul's spring vigor no longer is hidden,
    But unfurls with faith's flowers.
    Our Warming King.

  • Father,

  • I am weak, You are Strong.
Build Your Strength into my weakness.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
