Right Hand of God

"... Are you the Christ, the son of the Blessed One?
And, Jesus said: 'I am ...." Mark 14:61-62

Father,

Your Son, Jesus,
Dwells with Your Joy,
Reign with Your Love,
Shares with Your Glory, since
He sits at Your Throne's Right.

Your Son, Jesus,
Is Your Power,
Is Your Wisdom,
Is Your Word, since
He sits at Your Throne's Right.

Your Son, Jesus,
Is Your Equal, as God.
Is Your Son, as Man,
Is Your Hand, as God-Man, since
He sits at Your Throne's Right.

Father,
Your Son, Jesus,
Stood silent,
Spit upon,
Struck,
Blindfolded,
Humiliated by lies,
Circled by fury;
YET, He coolly claims:
I am THE Christ,
The Son of Man, Daniel's Messiah,
I am the Right Hand of God, and
I will come and judge the living and the dead.

Either the words of a mad-man,
Or the words of a God-Man.

I choose the latter.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
