The Blessed Soul

The Blessed Soul

"Blessed is the man who is guided not by the counsels of the impious ones,
and stands not on the way of sinners, and sits not on  the chair of scoffers.
But his will is in the law of the Lord and in his law he shall meditate day and
night." Psalm 1:1-2

Father,

Peace peaks in my soul
When Jesus is
My Map,
My Beacon,
My Helm, and
I walk not through soul-tunnels
With the World's burnt matches.

Joy glows in my soul
When my mind-talk and heart-cries
Leave the crib of pride and
Fix not on "I-rule," but
Pilgrim the world's wilderness
With Jesus -- His trail of love.

Calm stills in my soul
When I no longer tight grip to sin,
But open my soul's hands to Jesus-Grace,
Then the soul holds to His Power
And the World's pests -- sin's rats and roaches --
Scatter.

Father,

Let my pleasure be,
Yes, my delight and my care,
Be in hearing Your Will,
The Sympnoic Voice of Your Will
As it over-sounds my soul's old music.

Yes, Father, I believe, I so believe
With Peter:
"Lord, to whom shall we go,
You have words that give eternal life."
(John 6:68)

Words of a blessed soul.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
