Consider

"Stand and consider the marvels of God ..the marvels of Him
who is perfect in knowledge." Job 37: 14,16
Father,
Scrap off my soul's crust, then
Train my soul's eyes
To marv
el at Your Power.
Consider the Seasons --
Spring's burgeon, summer's ardor,
Fall's fruit, winter's ice, all in silence:
The "marvels of Him who is perfect in knowledge."
Consider the Earth --
That empire of life, from the timid grass
To hell-robbing fires of the volcanoe;
From modest valleys to the mounts proud bulk:
The "marvels of Him who is perfect in knowledge."
Consider the Ocean --
That great taskmaster, unconquorable,
Rolling and rolling and rolling,
As it surfs softly on the sand:
The "marvels of Him who is perfect in knowledge."
Consider the Universe --
That hemless world, with the
Daily prowl of the hunting sun;
The stars, those galleries of the stored unknown:
The "marvels of Him who is perfect in knowledge."
Consider Man --
That music of man, struggle's sound,
The beat of laughter and the hum of love,
The snap of tears and the crack of cruelty,
A freedom song or a bondage song, a
Choice sung only in harmony with grace:
The "marvels of Him who is perfect in knowledge."
Consider Jesus --
That Masterpiece of love, THE MARVEL,
Who sweeps away our soul's clouds and
Guides us to You, Your Creative Power,
A Power over death, so that
We will stand and consider Your marvels,

But. always with the shine of grace.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
