Butterfly

Father,

Faith is like a butterfly, for
It rises us from the crawl
Of the senses and reason.
It lifts us from Adam's tomb
To a new sunrise, a new life,
Young and rich in hope.
Faith is like a butterfly, for
It's wings give us
A gentle beauty, delicate,
With the hues of all flowers, but
Like the Monarch Butterfly
It carries us over hill-tops and
Tthrough storms to our home, You.
Faith is like a butterfly, for
It is of the day, not the night.
It warms with the SUN, not
Cold with the darkness and night-winds.
Faith is like a butterfly, for
It spins from the wrap of prayer --
Prayer homes the new life of  faith.

Yes, "Faith is the ground of hope,
The proof of the unseen." Hebrews 11:1

And,
"We walk by faith, niot by sight." 2 Cor.5:7

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
