Depth

"O the depth of wealth and wisdom and knowledge of God;
unsearchable His judgements, untraceable His ways."
Romans 11:33

Father,

Your Knowledge is never cold,
Rather a sun never fading.
Your Knowledge is never sealed in a dark night,
Rather a fire glowing open with truth, and
Never leaves ashes.

To You be glory forever and ever.

Your Wisdom is without horizon, and
The monuments of man's mind
Pale before it;
It never needs clean nor polish, and,
Certainly, never coffins the soul.

To You be glory forever and ever.

Yes, Father,
My mind's arms lack the length
To circle Your Mind;
Nor lift it's holy cloak;
Nor turn the world's wheel --
To think so is the puff of arrogance.

So,
Let me look into truth's glass,
It's authority and view my truth.

I am Your child, not You;
I am flawed, not perfect;
I am human with all it's wrinkles,
It's edge, ceiling and cap.

Sickness, suffering and sin happen;
Death is always there haunting;
But, joy and peace and love are also there
If I don't cheat  myself, deprive myself,
With soul forgeries and deceits, and,
ABOVE all, open to Your grace.

To You be glory forever and ever.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
