P.R.A.Y.E.R.

"They (Apostles)  were steadfast with one accord in prayer and
supplication, with the women, and Mary the Mother of Jesus, and
with his brothers." Acts 1:14

Father,

I turn from me and
Seek to link with You
Through prayer, which is:

P - Prayer is PRAISE
Riding on the wings of faith, yes,
PRAISE of the Might that tamed chaos,
That made all, that anchors all,
A Power beyond number,
Beyond the prison of matter;
Yes, to You be all PRAISE

R - Prayer RECALLS my life's "Why?"
Which is, to know and live in
Your Will for me, and this alone,
Not with the bribes of self-will
With its Judas kisses.

A - Prayer ASKS for Your Hand
To  joy in my "Why?" Yes,
My soul is a sparrow
In Your Hand,
Hold me gently.

Y - Prayer delivers my will to You,
I give up and give over,
I YIELD my will
To Your forge.

E - Prayer sounds out my day,
EXAMINES my Gospel-Life, and asks:
"Am I a faithful walker
With the God-Teacher, Jesus?"

R - Prayer RRESOLVES, makes a decision,
To parse out what I need to change --
Thoughts, words, actions (specifically)

Father,

I go to the upper room in my soul
And, in spirit, I pray
With the Apostles and women,
With the Mother of Jesus and his brothers,
Persevering anf never fainting..
