Prowing [Prow as in a ship's bow]

Prowing

Father,

You?
Higher and Deeper and Wider
Than words;
You?
Without horizons nor skies.

Still, come to this soul's land,
One with horizons and skies;
And plow with Your Love, for, too often,
The land is world weathered and snow-buried, so
Tender and thaw this freeze.

Once, You came to Your people,
The ancient desert-walkers, now,
Come to this soul that longs to connect,
And break out of the "I's" entrapment.

Please,
Do not let this soul shut it's eyes
To this task nor be breath tired
Of prowing this soul's vessel, with Jesus,
On the Divine River to You --

The Flow without sound,

The Flow of soul silence.

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
