The God Invited

"O Lord, who may dwell in Your Tent,
Who may abide on Your Holy Mountain." Psalm 15:1

Father,

Jesus is the Truth,
Your Sturdy Word, Your Intimate,
The Bone and Muscle of Your Power,
The Toil of Your Hands.

You invite those to Your Tent,
Who walk with this Truth,
Loyal, in step, with nerve,
With flare and flash and heart-flame.

You invite those to Your Tent
Who beat with the heart of love, and
Not fear of others, for this
Scare disowns love. So plase,
Grace tame this shudder.

You invite those to Your Tent
Who fill with prayer, wrap in worship,
Heart reposed, soul dazzled. Always
With the bow of thanks and
The soft face of forgiveness.

Father,

"There is only one thing I ask of the Lord,
This I seek:
To dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life, and
Gaze on His Beauty...." Psalm 27:4

About the Poet
I am 79 years of age. For the past nine years I have been retired, after forty years, from the field of alcoholism and drug abuse in New York City. I am married and we have two grown sons and two grand-sons. My life changed through a grace-experience in 1967. Writing Christian prayers is a particular interest of mine. This came about by a growing awareness of the spiritual in recovery from addictions. I choose, intellectually and emotionally, to believe the Triune God of the Sared Scriptures as my Healer.
