A New Year

Confetti snowflakes fall in celebration
of this new day - of this new year to come,
as little birds join in with great elation
in rhythmic dance to beat of Winter's drum.

The woodland stands all diamonded in praise,
flocked in the season's finery divine-
the patient roots in secret, telling ways
of strength of spirit for the coming time.

Just as the forest, in His call, we grow
less crushed by troubles and more confident,
so certain, onward in the truth we know
of daily manna blessings Heaven-sent.

Another year to praise Him as we do-
and sing with joy for life in Christ, anew.

(a Shakespearean sonnet)
